The song first appeared on Dylan’s “Another Side Of Bob Dylan” LP in 1964. Although it is simply titled “I Don’t Believe You” on all Dylan studio releases (vinyl and CDs), it is most commonly known as “I Don’t Believe You (She Act Like We Never Have Met)” or even simply as “She Act Like We Never Have Met” on live performances and on some other artists’ versions.

Although taken from a Byrds bootleg CD titled “Never Again”, track #2 isn’t by The Byrds but by an unidentified female singer, backed by a band trying desperately to sound like The Byrds. It was also present on a vinyl bootleg LP titled “Byrds On A Wyng”, this time wrongly titled “I Don’t Believe Me”.

A song by Bob Dylan, he attempted to record it only once, in 1965, during the « Bringing It All Back Home » LP sessions.

One had to wait 26 years to officially hear Dylan’s recording for the first time, as it appeared in 1991 on “The Bootleg Series Vol. 12: The Cutting Edge”. You have it here as track #1.

Its first released version was by Joan Baez in 1965, both on her “Farewell Angelina” LP and on a single, hence the use of the Danish single sleeve and label to make the artwork.
