A song written by Bob Dylan in 1964, it first appeared on his “Bringing It All Back Home” LP in 1965.
Peter Fonda failed to secure the rights to use Dylan's version on the “Easy Rider” movie soundtrack, so he asked Roger McGuinn to record his version for inclusion on the LP. That was the second time the song appeared on record (in 1969). Roger McGuinn played guitar and sang, while Byrds drummer Gene Parsons played harmonica.
